In case my Friend does not return to me,
\nThe let me return to the Friend’s embrace;
\nI’m willing to suffer pain and torture
\nIf that is how I can see the Friend’s face.<\/p>\n
A handful of dust was my stock in trade,
\nAnd love took even that away from me:
\nNow I have no capital left nor shop.
\nWhat use is going to the market place?<\/p>\n
The Friend has His nice shop, neatly set up;
\nCheerfully He walks around in that shop.
\nBut my heart cringes, my sins are countless;
\nHumbly I must go implore the Friend’s grace.<\/p>\n
My heart declares: ‘The Friend belongs to me.”
\nMy eye declares: The Friend belongs to me.”
\nMy heart urges my eye to have patience,
\nYearning to receive news, to keep pace.<\/p>\n
We must accept those who have looked at
\nAllah\u00a0As sharing Allah’s life, as one and the same.
\nIf a person has received the blessing
