While I was roaming the wide world
\nI came upon nations in graves:
\nThe mighty and the meek lay there
\nAmong them awe-inspiring braves.<\/p>\n
Some were old men, some young heroes:
\nViziers, teachers-everyone goes;
\nTheir days now caught in the night’s throes,
\nHere they lie with death’s other slaves.<\/p>\n
The path they took was always straight;
\nPen in hand, they knew how to write;
\nTheir tongues, like nightingales, sang right;
\nBuried they lie-sages and braves.<\/p>\n
Mighty and low, everyone cried
\nWhen these heroic leaders died;
\nA broken bow at each graveside
\nGallant men fell like stray arrows.<\/p>\n
Their horses unfurled a dust cloud,
\nDrummers marched by them, beating loud,
\nTheir might had done land and sea proud;
