Hicri 1020 senesinde (1611) Arapgir&#8217;de do\u011fdu. As\u0131l ad\u0131 Al\u00e2eddin Ali&#8217;dir. Boyu uzun oldu\u011fu i\u00e7in &#8220;Atvel&#8221;, siyah Halvet\u00ee tac\u0131 sard\u0131\u011f\u0131 i\u00e7in &#8220;Karaba\u015f&#8221;, pek \u00e7ok kerameti g\u00f6r\u00fcld\u00fc\u011f\u00fc i\u00e7in &#8220;Vel\u00ee&#8221; lakab\u0131n\u0131 alm\u0131\u015f ve son iki lakab\u0131yla me\u015fhur olmu\u015ftur.<\/p>\n<p>\u0130lk tahsilini Arapgir&#8217;de ve \u00c7ank\u0131r\u0131&#8217;da yapm\u0131\u015f, daha sonra \u0130stanbul&#8217;da F\u00e2tih Medresesi&#8217;nde \u00f6\u011frenimini s\u00fcrd\u00fcrm\u00fc\u015ft\u00fcr. Bu y\u0131llar esnas\u0131nda tasavvufa g\u00f6n\u00fcl vererek Kastamonu&#8217;ya gitmi\u015f ve \u015eeyh \u015e\u00e2b\u00e2n-\u0131 Vel\u00ee Derg\u00e2h\u0131 postni\u015fini \u0130smail \u00c7or\u00fbm\u00ee&#8217;ye intisap etmi\u015ftir. K\u0131sa s\u00fcrede \u015feyhinin g\u00fcvenini kazanan Karab\u00e2\u015f-\u0131 Vel\u00ee Hazretleri, hen\u00fcz seyr-\u00fc s\u00fcl\u00fbk\u00fcn\u00fc tamamlamadan \u00f6nce, dervi\u015fler aras\u0131nda \u00e7\u0131kan baz\u0131 anla\u015fmazl\u0131klar\u0131 halletmek \u00fczere \u00c7ank\u0131r\u0131&#8217;ya g\u00f6nderilmi\u015ftir. Kastamonu&#8217;ya d\u00f6nd\u00fc\u011f\u00fcnde \u0130smail Efendi vefat etmi\u015f oldu\u011fundan, seyr\u00fc s\u00fcl\u00fbk\u00fcn\u00fc yerine ge\u00e7en o\u011flu Mustafa Muslihuddin Efendi&#8217;nin yan\u0131nda tamamlam\u0131\u015ft\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p>Karab\u00e2\u015f-\u0131 Vel\u00ee Hazretleri, Mustafa Muslihuddin Efendi&#8217;nin vefat\u0131 \u00fczerine (1072\/1662) Kastamonu&#8217;dan ayr\u0131l\u0131p, yakla\u015f\u0131k yirmi y\u0131l Arap \u00fclkelerinde seyahat etmi\u015ftir. Bu seyahat d\u00f6neminin sonunda, 1081 senesinde (1670) \u00dcsk\u00fcdar&#8217;a gelerek Rum Mehmed Pa\u015fa Camii&#8217;nde inzivaya \u00e7ekilmi\u015ftir. D\u00f6rt y\u0131l s\u00fcren bu d\u00f6nemin ard\u0131ndan, \u00dcsk\u00fcdar V\u00e2lide-i At\u00eek Camii Zaviyesi\u2019nde me\u015fihat ve caminin vaizli\u011fi g\u00f6revine ba\u015flam\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. 1090 (1679) senesinde Limni adas\u0131na s\u00fcrg\u00fcne g\u00f6nderildi\u011fi bilinmektedir. S\u00fcrg\u00fcn sebebi konusunda \u00e7e\u015fitli rivayetler bulunmaktad\u0131r. Bir rivayete g\u00f6re, vaazlar\u0131nda zahir ulem\u00e2s\u0131n\u0131n kabul edemeyece\u011fi tasavvuf\u00ee konulardan bahsetti\u011finden dolay\u0131, \u015fiddetli tenkitlere m\u00e2ruz kalm\u0131\u015f, ayr\u0131ca cahil dervi\u015fler aras\u0131nda baz\u0131 uygunsuz s\u00f6ylentiler yay\u0131ld\u0131\u011f\u0131 i\u00e7in ortal\u0131\u011f\u0131 yat\u0131\u015ft\u0131rmak \u00fczere s\u00fcrg\u00fcn edilmi\u015ftir. Zaman\u0131n padi\u015fah\u0131 IV. Mehmed&#8217;in kendisine olan meylini tehdit olarak g\u00f6renlerin tertibine u\u011fram\u0131\u015f olmas\u0131, s\u00fcrg\u00fcn sebebi konusunda daha kuvvetli bir ihtimal olarak g\u00f6r\u00fclmektedir. Karab\u00e2\u015f-\u0131 Vel\u00ee Hazretlerinin, kendisi gibi bir Halvet\u00ee \u015feyhi olan, ancak aralar\u0131n\u0131n a\u00e7\u0131k oldu\u011fu anla\u015f\u0131lan Niy\u00e2z\u00ee-i M\u0131sr\u00ee ile Limni&#8217;de ayn\u0131 y\u0131llarda ikamete mecbur edilmesi de dikkat \u00e7ekicidir.<\/p>\n<p>Karab\u00e2\u015f-\u0131 Vel\u00ee Hazretleri, d\u00f6rt y\u0131l kadar s\u00fcren bu s\u00fcrg\u00fcn hayat\u0131ndan sonra 1094&#8217;te (1683) tekrar \u00dcsk\u00fcdar&#8217;a d\u00f6nm\u00fc\u015ft\u00fcr. Padi\u015fah\u0131n yeniden ona yak\u0131nl\u0131k g\u00f6stermesi Merzifonlu Kara Mustafa Pa\u015fa&#8217;n\u0131n harekete ge\u00e7mesine sebep olmu\u015ftur. Mustafa Pa\u015fa, padi\u015fah\u0131n kendisini hacca g\u00f6ndermek istedi\u011fini, bunun i\u00e7in de gereken paray\u0131 g\u00f6nderdi\u011fini kendisine bildirmi\u015ftir. Pa\u015fan\u0131n ger\u00e7ek niyetini anlam\u0131\u015f oldu\u011funu uygun bir bi\u00e7imde kendisine dile getiren Karab\u00e2\u015f-\u0131 Vel\u00ee Hazretleri, hacca gitmek \u00fczere \u0130stanbul&#8217;dan ayr\u0131lm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Hac d\u00f6n\u00fc\u015f\u00fc bir m\u00fcddet Medine&#8217;de ikamet etmi\u015f, bu s\u0131rada halifelerinin sonuncusu olan Bolulu Mustafa Efendi&#8217;ye hilafet vermi\u015ftir. Daha sonra, M\u0131s\u0131r&#8217;a d\u00f6nen hac\u0131 kafilesine kat\u0131larak Medine&#8217;den ayr\u0131lm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p>Kahire yak\u0131nlar\u0131nda konaklad\u0131klar\u0131 yerde, hava gayet a\u00e7\u0131k oldu\u011fu h\u00e2lde, bir sel gelece\u011fini ke\u015ffederek durumu hac\u0131lara bildirmi\u015f ve toplulu\u011fu selden kurtarm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Bu olaydan k\u0131sa s\u00fcre sonra, hicr\u00ee tarihe g\u00f6re yetmi\u015f yedi ya\u015f\u0131ndayken, Geyl\u00e2n k\u00f6y\u00fcnde hastalanan Karab\u00e2\u015f-\u0131 Vel\u00ee Hazretleri, 8 Safer 1097 (4 Ocak 1686) tarihinde Hakk\u2019a y\u00fcr\u00fcm\u00fc\u015f ve \u015eeyh\u00fc&#8217;l-Gazz\u00e2l\u00ee ismiyle tan\u0131nan bir zat\u0131n t\u00fcrbesi yak\u0131n\u0131na defnedilmi\u015ftir. \u00dc\u00e7 o\u011flundan Mustafa Ma&#8217;nev\u00ee (\u00f6. 1114\/1702) Sokullu Mehmed Pa\u015fa Zaviyesi me\u015fihatinde bulunmu\u015ftur; divan sahibi bir \u015fair olup \u00dcsk\u00fcdar&#8217;da Nas\u00fbh\u00ee Derg\u00e2h\u0131 naziresinde medfundur. Adn\u00ee Hasan \u00c7elebi (\u00f6. 1125\/1713) Kahire&#8217;de Karameydan&#8217;da K\u0131rklar Makam\u0131 diye bilinen derg\u00e2hta \u015feyhlik yapm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Di\u011fer o\u011flu H\u00fcseyin \u00c7elebi ise ir\u015fada icazetli olmakla birlikte Karab\u00e2\u015f-\u0131 Vel\u00ee onu herhangi bir beldeye tayin etmemi\u015ftir.<\/p>\n<p>Binlerce ki\u015fiye biat verdi\u011fi ve y\u00fczlerce halife yeti\u015ftirdi\u011fi kaydedilen Karab\u00e2\u015f-\u0131 Vel\u00ee Hazretleri, \u00e7e\u015fitli halk kesimlerinden Sultan IV. Mehmed&#8217;e kadar geni\u015f bir kitleyi etkilemi\u015ftir. Padi\u015fah\u0131n devran zikri yapt\u0131rmas\u0131 i\u00e7in bir halifeyi saraya g\u00f6ndermesini istedi\u011fi, Karab\u00e2\u015f-\u0131 Vel\u00ee Hazretlerinin de halifelerinden \u00dcns\u00ee Hasan Efendi&#8217;yi g\u00f6revlendirdi\u011fi bilinmektedir.
